St. Albert Transit
In 2004 PWTransit was selected to deliver both the City of St. Albert's conventional Transit system and Handibus service. Operating a fleet of 58 Conventional Buses and 5 Handibuses, our Team of 96 Employees provides 108,000 service hours with an annual ridership that exceeds 1.2 million passengers. This is a comprehensive Transit service, which provides commuters with service to downtown Edmonton, Government Centre and educational campuses including: U of A, NAIT and Grant McEwan College.
Conventional Transit – Operating St. Albert Transit and local Handibus service, PWTransit employs full-time, part-time and casual operators in addition to office and field support staff consisting of Dispatchers, Inspectors, a Manager of Driver Development, a Service Delivery Manager, and an Operations Manager. All of the buses, are low floor and are wheelchair accessible, consisting of 23 articulated buses and 33 - 40' buses. The St. Albert Transit System operates more than 96,000 service hours per year, and service runs from as early as 5:15am to as late as 1:15am.
Handibus Service – In addition to the conventional transit service, PWTransit also supplies the operators for the City of St. Albert's Handibus service. The service provides door-to-door transportation five days per week, for individuals who cannot utilize the regular transit service. The Handibus fleet is made up of units capable of carrying six passengers and two wheelchairs. This service also carries medical patients to the local area hospital Tuesday through Friday each week, as part of the subsidized Hospital Day Program.
